How to apply RCMP check?

According to new E2 visa regulation from Korean immigration office. Canadian must provide RCMP check for employment and applying E2 visa. National level of criminal background check is one of requirement for applying E2 visa. Please note that your employer can request RCMP even you are E2 visa holder depends on program that you are applying for.

According to RCMP wesite, fingerprint-based criminal rcord checks are processed within approximately 2~3weeks up to 120days. They are processing over 20,000 applicants for criminal record check each month.


Public school program such as EPIK(SMOE) and GEPIK program require national level of criminal background check and F (F1~F5) visa holder must submit national level of criminal background check according to ministry of education's employment regulation.

Step of Application

1.Obtain form C216 and fill out the form (don't forget to write purpose of application)

2.Obtain Fingerprint from nearest poilce force or fingerprint agency (Korvia Consulting is not providing fingerprint services)

3.Mail it to RCMP

Applying RCMP in Canada

  • you must have your fingerprints taken on form C-216C at your local police station or private accredited fingerprinting agency.
  • Depending on the police jurisdiction, a fee may be required.

 

Applying RCMP in Korea

Please visit the nearest Korean police force which offers fingerprinting services (distrct police office or higer authority). The RCMP will accept fingerprint forms from foreign countries that contain the following:

  • rolled and flat impressions of all ten fingers taken with black ink
  • full name, date of birth and sex of the applicant
  • the name and address of the police agency
  • the signature of the official taking the fingerprints

NOTES :

  • Canadian embassies and consulates may not have adequate resources or facilities to provide this service.
  • The ability to submit fingerprints electronically to the RCMP is not currently available outside Canada
     

How to request C-216C form?

If you are submitting your criminal record check from within Canada:

  • you must have your fingerprints taken on form C-216C at your local police station or private accredited fingerprinting agency.
  • Depending on the police jurisdiction, a fee may be required.

If you are submitting your criminal record check from within South Korea:

  • you can obtain an RCMP C-216C form by contacting CFSS e-mail at civilnps@rcmp-grc.gc.ca and provide the following information:
    • your name
    • mailing address, and
    • specify the number of forms required

Forward your request with all relevant documents by mail or courier.
Note: Hand-delivered fingerprint submissions will not be accepted by local RCMP offices

NOTE : Although fingerprint submission are accepted by courier, civil product results will not be returned by courier. The results are always returned by regular mail.
